How does unconscious bias affect your workplace?
Free workshop to discuss bias

June 14, 2017. Cottonwood Heights, Utah. We like to believe that we live and work in a world of equality and acceptance. The truth, however, shows we’re all biased to some extent. We’re wired to feel more comfortable around people who are like us, and cautious of those who are different.

Unconscious biases can limit work and career opportunities for many people because decision-makers often act without understanding their own beliefs about others’ capabilities, competencies or potential.

Join us for a free workshop to discuss unconscious biases on Thursday, June 15 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Cottonwood Heights City Hall (2277 E Bengal Blvd.) Presented by Merrilee Buchanan, the founder and principal consultant for Villa Leadership Group, the workshop will help you understand what creates our bias and learn ways to increase awareness and adjust behaviors to improve the work experience for ourselves and others. For more information or to RSVP, contact Peri Kinder at pkinder@ch.utah.gov or 801-944-7067.
